A description of the chrome plating performed on Truespoke wire wheels

  • Our wheels are chrome plated by one of California's top platers.

  • All plating is performed to the highest standards.

  • Specially designed equipment is used just for our wheels.

  • We specify multiple layers of nickel. There are three layers of nickel.

  • The three layers of nickel are: 1) Semi-bright 2) Bright and 3) Dur NI or micro-particle nickel.

  • The minimum plating thickness is: 0.0012 inches.

  • The fourth layer of chrome is known as, "Hex-decorative".

  • The chrome plating is routinely tested, employing, Step Testing, Cass Testing and Corrodkote Testing. Additionally, the chrome is tested for appearance, surface roughness, reflection, thickness, microscopic examination, porosity, cracks and corrosion. The goal is to create a rich, smooth and highly reflective chrome plated surface.
